Gov. Brian Sandoval ordered the 27th Special Session during the predawn hours of Tuesday. Legislators worked through the morning to pass five measures, including one that will allow the Board of County Commissioners in Clark County to raise the Sales and Use Tax in order to fund the hiring of additional police officers.
Other bills passed included an appropriation to add additional funds to Nevada’s Millennium Scholarship, a measure that will reduce kindergarten class sizes, a tax break for new or expanded businesses, and bill to change the administration of the account from which loans are made to Nevada’s charter schools.
