Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes sent a phone message out to parents Thursday night addressing the Wednesday incident near Seeliger Elementary School in which a man in a dark-colored mini-van attempted to lure a young boy walking to school.

On Thursday morning authorities were notified by Fritsch Elementary School administrators about a report of a possible second incident involving a student. Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators conducted interviews and it was determined that the claim was unsubstantiated, law enforcement officials and Superintendent Stokes confirmed.

The phone call to parents Thursday was to inform them of the Wednesday incident and to remind parents to reiterate with their children to be safe and vigilant when walking, riding their bikes or skateboarding to school, Stokes said.

The message was to emphasize to parents to remind their children not to walk alone but in groups and walk in areas designated for them to walk instead of taking short-cuts or going through alleys. Stokes said he emphasized that parents should remind their children to never talk to strangers and if they are approached by strangers to immediately inform school officials, parents and law enforcement.

Stokes also noted that Carson City Sheriff's Office has stepped up patrol around all schools since the Wednesday incident.
