A 49-year-old Dayton woman faces a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer and two misdemeanors — disorderly conduct and obstructing and resisting an officer — after being arrested Saturday at Carson and Telegraph streets, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.
Officers were called to the area at 7:48 p.m. after a passerby reported seeing three intoxicated women rolling around and wrestling on the grass with their dresses up. The three women, all intoxicated, were found in the grass area in front of the Paul Laxalt Building.
One woman was wearing a pink dress that she could not keep down as she rolled on the grass, exposing her unclothed crotch area. Another woman had trouble standing and began to apologize as soon as officers arrived. The third woman, who was ultimately arrested, was quiet at first, claiming her husband was on his way to pick them up and they would meet him at the Nugget.
An officer then spoke with the reporting witness who advised they did not see any genitalia, only that the women's dresses were coming up as they rolled around in the grass. The reporting witness said they took a second lap around the block to confirm the women were nearly exposing themselves as they rolled around. The witness did not want to pursue any charges, the officer said in the arrest report.
Officers asked the women to call for a sober ride. The woman, who was later arrested, became irritated and angry with officers, saying she did not know the cell phone number of her husband and then ordered them to go look for him, the arrest report states. She then volunteered to go look herself but nearly fell as she attempted to stand up. At one point the woman said her husband wasn't anywhere in the area.
One of the three women called her own husband and requested he come pick them up in which he obliged, the arret report states. The woman who was subsequently arrested began to ramble and cuss at officers, telling them to go find her husband so they could leave.
When the woman said she was going to go look herself, an officer said she should remain because she was having trouble walking. This made the woman more angry and she began to yell and carry on about being arrested because she was a woman, the report states. She then made allegations that the officers were women haters, and said they must have been hurt by women as children, the arrest report continued.
Every attempt was made to ignore the belligerent woman by the officers while the other women were standing by waiting for their sober ride to arrive. An officer asked the woman repeatedly to sit down on the grass for her safety. The woman began to curse at the officer despite pleas from her two friends to calm down.
She said "No! It's the principle of it all," the arrest report states.
An officer attempted to usher the woman toward the grass and she flung her arms wildly at the officer and waved her finger in his face calling him names, the arrest report states. By this time a crowd of people gathered around beause of the woman's commotion.
After many warnings issued, she was taken into custody. Officers attempted to place her in handcuffs when the woman attempted to take a swing at the officer, who blocked the attempted strike.
The woman resisted, screamed and thrashed as officers attempted to put cuffs on her. She told officers they were communists who hated America and everything it stood for, and that they hated the Constitution and all women, the arrest report states.
She was taken to jail at 8:11 p.m. and placed in a holding cell. Jail deputies advised she had a preliminary breath test of .16. Bail: $3,154.
