The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada have picked Johnny Rockets restaurant inside the Carson Lanes in Carson City as their spotlight business of the month. This means for the entire month of June, general manager Tamara Jennings, the Johnny Rockets staff and customers will be collecting funds for a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada.

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada in association with Boys and Girls Clubs of America participate in the National IJTO campaign. “It Just Takes One” is a campaign that was developed to help raise proceeds to aid the clubs across the nation meet their goals in educating, caring and providing a safe and rewarding environment for the youths of our communities.

According to Cliff Sorensen, Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada Board Secretary, at the Western Nevada club we have taken it a step closer to heart and have asked local businesses to team up with us each month and for an entire month and ask their customers, on our behalf, as they checkout or pay their bill, if they would like to donate a dollar (or different amount) to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada to help defray the costs of tuition for those children’s family that cannot afford to send their children to the club.

The club never turns a child away regardless of their ability to pay and the club only charges each member $30 per year, even though it costs the club $510.00 per year per member to operate.

At the end of the 30 days the business calculates the donation amount and writes the club a check for that amount. The business can also decide, if they wish, to match the amount that their customers donated. At the conclusion of this 30 day period, we will then announce the date of the check presentation to the club on behalf of the customers and staff at each of the participating businesses. Johnny Rockets was a willing partner in this and we are so excited to have them. Every year they do some type of fundraiser for our club and we are always so appreciative of their support.
