There were just over 450 students who made their way to Carson High School’s football field for one last time Saturday in Carson City. The academic limelight shined on valedictorian Tony Xi, and the two salutatorians: Zoey Gray and Greta Strum, but the rest of the class of 2014 was sure they would not to be forgotten either.
The academics were outstanding with in the rest of the class as well, including over 30 academic presidential level recipients, and more than $2.5 million in scholarships.
With a couple of zone champions in football, a handful of state competitors in track, and even a couple of state qualifiers in wrestling too, the voices of the graduates was also heard upon as far as athletics go as well. Musical inclination was no problem for Carson High’s graduates either. The senior song, “Don’t you forget about me,” by Simple Minds was even performed by the trio of Tony Cacioppo, Archie Redmond, and Daniel Yosafat right in the middle of the football field.
The song was a nice intermission between the speech of the senior class president, Keagan Allen who talked about fear and love in a very moving speech, and the valedictorian Tony Xi’s speech about what is next in life after high school.
The class will certainly grow up soon enough and go on to bigger and better things, as well as be the standard of what it was like for Generation Z kids to grow up in high school. The ceremonies all went off perfectly, and it is certain that the newly graduated class of 2014 will be major assets to their communities, and be contributing members to society.
