Convicted sexual predator in Carson City Jail awaiting extradition as fugitive from justice

A 51-year-old Mesquite, Nev. man with a history that includes being a convicted child sexual predator, was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail on a felony warrant charge of being a fugitive from justice, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

The May 8, 2012 warrant, issued out of Kandiyohi County, Minn., alleges that Scott Allen McMaster knowingly violated his required registration and intentionally provides false information to avoid contact with law enforcement. He is being held in the Carson City Jail without bail awaiting extradition.

He faces five years in prison on the charge against him in Minnesota. McMaster has had a criminal history with a 1996 Arizona conviction of attempted child molestation. He subsequently moved to Nevada, where he was out of compliance and his whereabouts unknown.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office report, McMaster was booked into the Carson City Jail at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday after Northern Nevada Correctional officers delivered him to the jail.

In Arizona, where he was registered as a sex offender, McMaster was listed as an absconder and the Nevada Offender Registration website listed him as non-compliant, according to the Minnesota criminal complaint.
