
A small shrub fire was knocked down shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday night at a park in the area of Windridge and Spooner Drive in Carson City. Children playing with matches is believed to be what started the fire, which burned some shrubs and bushes.
Carson City firefighters were called at 4:56 p.m. Smoke and flames were visible in the area. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies investigating found a box of matches next to the fire. Neighbors told officers that they saw two children, between the ages of 7 and 9, running from the area about the time the fire started.
The Carson City Parks Department was notified about the burned shrubbery.
