If you think drugs are not a problem in our community, think again. Perhaps the closing down of meth labs may be a thing of the past, but be aware, drug use is ever constant among the young and easily obtained.
Award winning New York Times best-selling author Ellen Hopkins will be addressing the Carson City Chamber’s monthly luncheon at the Gold Dust West that is open to the public.
Next Tuesday, March 25th, Hopkins will talk about how meth found her oldest daughter and how “the monster” known as meth has altered this once normal teenager and A student forever. And, she will address how it has forever changed the family dynamics since Hopkins is now taking care of four of the six children borne by her daughter.
Her first young adult offering, CRANK, was written to inform teens and their parents of the dangers of drug use – any drugs – and how addictive they can be – forever!
The Chamber is partnering with Partnership Carson City for this event and will have on display the ingredients used to make up meth.
Reservations must be made prior to noon, Monday, 24 March. Cost of lunch is $16 per person and begins at 11:30 a.m. RSVP by calling (775) 882-1565
