The Friends of Carson City Library will be closing their Browser’s Corner Book Store, currently inside the library, at the end of the day on Saturday, March 22. The Browsers Corner Book Store will re-open in their new location across Washington St. from the library with a Grand Opening on Saturday, April 12.
“This is a very exciting move for the Friends as well as the library. The Library Board of Trustees recently adopted a Strategic Plan that puts an emphasis on making the most efficient use of all the space in the current library with focus on providing as much help as possible to our citizens who are looking for work or preparing for a career in this digital world,” said Friends’ president Phyllis Patton.
The Friends also needed more space to promote the sale of all the donated books the public so generously supplies them with. When the building at 711 E. Washington St. became available, the decision was made to lease it. This will give the Friends much more space and still be in close proximity to the library for the convenience of patrons.
“Library staff, since January, has been in the process of moving departments around, painting and generally trying to spruce up the entire building. The space where the Friends sorted and stored and sold their books will be turned into a Digitorium. A space where young people and other interested patrons can hang out and get hands on experience as they learn about all the possibilities of the digital equipment available,” added Patton.
Browsers Corner in the library will close on March 22 and they will re-open across the street at 711 E. Washington St. with a Grand Opening on April 12. For more information go here.
