Carson City Resident Lisa Helget filed for Carson City Supervisor Ward 1. She has lived in Carson City since 1977, growing up and attending schools here. In 2013, Lisa retired from the Nevada Department of Transportation after 27 years working in the Highway Construction Division.
“I’ve been serving the public my whole NDOT career”, she said, including public safety concerns and watching out for how taxpayer money was used constructing our State’s roads and bridges within specified budgets. I just don’t think in the current economic climate with our already stretched budgets, it was a good idea to double tax Carson City citizen’s for the Downtown Corridor project.
“And I certainly do not like having my opportunity to vote on key taxpayer issues robbed from me” she went on to say. “Putting special interest group foxes in charge of the citizen’s henhouse is always bad policy” Helget said.
“I decided to run because I think the citizen’s of Carson City deserve better than what they’re getting.” Helget said. “I look forward to meeting and talking with Carson City citizens about what issues are important to them and how I will best serve those issues while maintaining City needs as Supervisor. My commitment is to best serve the whole community of Carson City, not just a select area” Helget said.
