The Silver Springs Airport in Lyon County will be home to a Nevada drone company test site. The airport has been picked as a hub by Nevada Institute of Autonomous Systems as an operations location for unmanned autonomous vehicle systems, said Lyon County Manager Jeff Page in a Friday statement.
The deal was made through a partnership with Lyon County and working closely with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Northern Nevada Development Authority, said Page.
The airport is a partnership with Lyon County owning the properties and the Silver Springs Airport LLC managing the day to day activities of the airport, said Page.
Lyon County was picked as the ideal home for the company's testing of unmanned because of its location off Highway 50 and Highway 95, its airport facilities, surrounding open space, proximity to Lake Lahontan and NAS Fallon airspace, said Page.
