Carson City District Court Judge Jim Wilson files for re-election

Judge Jim Wilson filed for reelection as district court judge. His campaign committee includes: Roger Williams, Mary Pierczynski, Frank Flaherty, Bill Brewer, Ryan Russell, and Daniel Gonzales.

Judge Wilson was elected to the First Judicial District Court, which serves Carson City and Storey County, in 2008. He has been recognized by the Nevada Supreme Court and the National Judicial College for his judicial education accomplishments and is a leader in the Nevada judicial community serving as Chairman of the Sierra Judicial Council, a representative on the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada, and a leader or member of Nevada Supreme Court commissions and a committee.

Judge Wilson grew up in Carson City. He graduated from Carson High School, the University of Nevada, Reno, and McGeorge School of Law. He served as a deputy district attorney and then Elko County District Attorney. He worked in private practice in Carson City for 22 years before taking the bench.

Judge Wilson has been recognized by the Nevada Supreme Court and the National Judicial College for his judicial education accomplishments and is a leader in the State judicial community serving as Chairman of the Sierra Judicial Council, a representative to the State Judicial Council, and a member or leader of Nevada Supreme Court commissions and a committee.

Attorney Ryan Russell said, "Judge Wilson's record demonstrates his knowledge of the law, fairness, and patience. He is an excellent judge."

Before law school Judge Wilson served as a Carson City Deputy Sheriff and later served as a Sparks Reserve Police Officer. He has been active in youth sports programs, served as a Boy Scout leader, and a PTA president.
