The Carson City Sheriff’s Office, the Carson City School District, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Corrections and the Uniformed First Responders from across the Carson Valley will collaborate to make Christmas come true for students within the Carson City School District.
The 9th annual Holiday with a Hero provide the children of Carson City with a positive experience with a uniformed officer and to give each student a Christmas they may not receive otherwise. More than 175 students are chosen from the school district’s “Students in Transition” Program; these students are homeless, living in shelters or other family members.
Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Daniel Gonzales said this year has been especially critical on local children. At least $20,000 is needed in this community event to meet the needs of the program and the children it is serving this year.
There will be a fundraiser Saturday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar. The fundraiser features a DJ, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, refreshments and a good time. All proceeds go to Holiday with a Hero.
