UPDATE: A 35-year-old man is in custody after a fight broke out Thursday night in an apartment in the 3400 block of South Carson Street. The male victim, 45, was not injured by the gunfire but was in need of medical attention, reports Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
A medical helicopter was called and the victim transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno because of a non-gun related injury to his head. The incident was reported to dispatch at around 8:45 p.m.
The suspect in the shooting was being cooperative with investigators, said Sheriff Furlong. The 45-year-old victim, however, was reported to be extremely intoxicated and uncooperative. The gunfire was shot in the air after the two men were partying and had gotten into an argument, said Furlong. A handgun and rifle were booked into evidence.
