Who doesn't smile, nod at the bell ringer and put some extra change in the Salvation Army kettle over the holiday season?
It takes a lot of people to see through the annual campaign. The Salvation Army in Carson City will hold a job fair Friday and is looking for kettle workers, an office assistant and drivers to help with the holiday season. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army, 661 Colorado Street.
Last year's kettle campaign helped 3,300 individuals during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday period, said Lt. Mark Cyr, Carson City Corps officer for the Salvation Army. For this fiscal year, the organization has helped more than 17,000 people.
This year's kettle campaign begins Nov. 25 and will run through Christmas.
"For the job fair we are looking for people with a passion to serve the needy and help us with this campaign," said Lt. Cyr.
Applicants should bring a resume, identification, references and should be ready for an on-the-spot interview. Workers will help the Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives, Toys for Joy and the Angel Tree Christmas toy distribution.
The Salvation Army of Carson City serves Carson City and Douglas County. The organization offers church and social services programs through its Corps Community Center located on Colorado Street. For more information, go here.
