Will Our Planning Commission Allow Carson To Bloom Again?

Among all the closed businesses and empty buildings around Carson there are a few places that are finally starting to bloom both figuratively and literally. North Carson was doubly hard hit by the recession and the freeway bypass that diverts traffic around the north end of town. There are dozens of vacant business properties on the North end of our city. So any improvement should be a welcome change in our cities fortunes or rather misfortune of the last five years. Closed businesses and vacant properties mean less revenues for the city, lower property values and produce higher taxes coupled with increases in local unemployment which translates in lower rents or rental vacancies.

Our City Manager and Planning Director have been actively supporting a growth agenda here in Carson City. Maybe with their help and yours we can persuade the planning commission to go along with them and allow Carson City to bloom once again. You might want to attend the meeting below and let our elected commission members know that we citizens of Carson City would appreciate a little more pro growth planning in our city where the commission becomes a valued partner with business rather than an adversarial nemesis.

Together we can all make Carson City bloom once again figuratively and literally starting with this meeting to allow an expanded outdoor garden display for the Carson Shopping Center as pictured. It's a small step in the right direction and a good beginning.

Then we can all move on with supporting the completion of that rather embarrassing ten story monument to city planning failure infamously known throughout Carson City as the Ormsby House.
