With two successful job fairs this year that put more than 100 people to work, planning has begun for a third one in the mix set for Friday, Oct. 4 at the Carson City Community Center.

Hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services, JOIN and The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, the Fall Job Fair will be open to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be up to 50 employers at the event, all seeking the right person to fill their job openings, said Lynn Ellis, WorkForce Program Case Manager for Carson City Health and Human Services.

"If I could stress anything to job seekers that will be attending it would be to come prepared, bring several copies of your resume, and dress to impress," said Ellis.

Two similar fairs have been held this year, one in February and the other in June that resulted in 102 hires, said Ellis. Results from the June Job Fair were incredible, she said, with 45 employers attending that resulted in 59 hires. There were 684 people who attended the June event. The February Job Fair was a also a success with 43 job seekers gaining employment.

While attendees will likely see lines of people when they attend, the two job fairs in Carson City have worked out well thus far because the pace is kept brisk and to the point, with prospective employers being able to do a meet and greet, along with a few questions about the jobs available, she said.

Come prepared, Ellis advises. "The employers have choices, are you the person that will impress them and make them want to interview and hire you?" she said.
