
The Carson City Library presents a lecture by Susan M. Schneider author of the book “The Science of Consequences: How They Affect Genes, Change the Brain, and Impact Our World” on Monday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) 108 East Proctor Street.
Ten years in the making, Schneider’s book describes the science, its role in the larger realm of nature and nurture, and its many applications-including favorites like parenting language development, and self-control.
“The Science of Consequences” tells a tale ranging from genetics to neurotransmitters, from emotion to language, from parenting to politics — bringing together research from many fields to show how something that seems so simple can explain so much.
Biopsychologist Susan M. Schneider, PhD, has an international reputation in nature-nurture relations and the principles of learning from consequences. She has been a visiting Scholar at the University of the
Pacific, a professor at St. Olaf College, Auburn University, and Florida International University, and a visiting research fellow at the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) is affiliated with “Your Knowledge and Discovery Place” the Carson City Library. The BRIC is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 108 E Proctor Street, phone 775 283-7123.
