Teenager on bicycle hit by vehicle at Saliman and Fifth in Carson City

UPDATE: A 15-year-old boy was injured after colliding with a car in the area of Saliman Road and Fifth Street Wednesday afternoon, the Carson City Sheriff's Office confirms.

The accident investigation shows the vehicle, a Honda Civic, was traveling eastbound through the intersection on a green light, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Deputy Matt Smith.

The 15-year-old bicyclist, traveling on the east side of Saliman, entered the intersection and was struck by the vehicle, which had the right of way on the green light. The boy was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno by ambulance.
Care Flight was called but was temporarily grounded at the time because of weather conditions. The accident happened at around 2:25 p.m.

A juvenile on a bicycle was reportedly hit head-on by a vehicle in the area of Saliman Road and Fifth Street. Carson City fire and rescue crews responded to the call on Wednesday at 2:25 p.m. A Care Flight air ambulance was ordered to land, however, bad weather has temporarily grounded the service.

The injured juvenile was instead to be transported directly to Renown Medical Center in Reno by ground ambulance. Traffic is blocked at northbound Saliman Road and eastbound at Fifth Street.

The condition of the bicyclist is unknown at this time. It was reported to be a juvenile, according to Carson City dispatchers.
