An area of low pressure moving into the Pacific Northwest will increase winds today throughout the Carson City region, producing gusts of 35 to 45 mph from late this morning and into this evening, according to the National Weather Service.
For Carson City, the Lake Tahoe Basin, Eastern Sierra and Western Nevada, winds will combine with low relative humidity to create critical fire weather conditions, shown by the red shaded area on the map. Finally those traveling, winds may kick up areas of blowing dust and difficult cross winds for high profile vehicles on Interstates 80, 580 and Highways 50, 95 and 395.
