Spring around western Nevada continues to bring unsettled weather to the Carson City area. An upper level low will linger over the region this week bringing cooler than average temperatures and chances of showers with isolated thunderstorms each day, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will warm late this week as some of the cloud cover breaks apart; highs will reach the mid 70s in Western Nevada and the mid 60s for Sierra valleys.

However another wave may move over the Sierra this weekend keeping the potential for isolated showers in the forecast while cooling afternoon highs back into the 60s for Western Nevada and into the 50s for Sierra valleys.

For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, there’s a 30 percent chance of scattered showers through Monday night, a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday and a 50 percent chance of showers Wednesday.

Residents in Carson City now have an option for spaying and neutering feral cats. A mobile veterinary clinic, specially designed for spay/neuter services, was recently built for Nevada Humane Society thanks to a grant which covered the cost of the vehicle.

The giant RV was brought to Carson City last week, and the first mobile spay/neuter clinic for feral cats in Carson City was held on Friday, resulting in 15 feral cats being spayed or neutered, vaccinated and ear tipped.

“This mobile clinic will allow us to provide a bigger outreach to the residents of Carson City and to help control the feral cat population in the area. Right now we are accepting appointments only for feral cats. It’s a big step forward for Carson City, and we’re thrilled to be able to make a difference for animals in Nevada’s capital city,” said Denise Stevens, Interim CEO for Nevada Humane Society. “The community has asked for our help and we are there for them. With the new shelter opening later this year, we will only continue to increase lifesaving efforts by increasing our programs and services even further to the region.”

Carson City residents must call 775-887-2171 to schedule an appointment for spay/neuter services. At this time, services are being provided to feral cats only and appointments are based on availability. The next clinic is scheduled for June 9th.

For more information about spay/neuter services for pet cats, please call the Reno veterinary clinic at 775-856- 2000 ext 333.

Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Two jailed for interfering with church burglary investigation

$

Two men were arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of obstructing officers investigating a possible burglary at a church in the 400 block of Clear Creek Avenue, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a counselor at the church said that at around 10 p.m. he arrived at the facility on business. As he entered the parking lot, he saw a Isuzu Trooper parked in the parking lot and observed a white male running from the church, getting into the rear passenger seat which then sped away.

The witness said he observed three adult males in the green or blue older model vehicle but was unable to see the license plate because it was dark. A deputy found the vehicle matching the description approximately a mile away from the church. The witness agreed to accompany an officer in which he positively identified the vehicle, a blue Isuzu parked at 47 Clear Creek Avenue.

At 11:30 p.m. deputies attempted to make contact with the occupants of the apartment. Initially they did not answer the door. They were seen through an open window hiding on the kitchen floor, according to the arrest report. A deputy identified himself as a sheriff’s deputy and both men came out of the residence.

The two identified themselves and agreed to speak separately with deputies. The 29-year-old suspect was confrontational with the officer. He said he wouldn’t speak and then denied being at the church and said that he had recently returned from Walmart with the other suspect, age 24.

When the officer asked the 24-year-old suspect what they were up to, he told the officer they had returned from Walmart and had dropped a friend off at a nearby church.

The deputy then spoke with the 29-year-old suspect, who said he forgot to tell the officer about the church and meeting his friend at the church where he was dropping off paperwork. Deputies found the stories to be inconsistent. Both were arrested on charges of obstructing and delaying an officer investigation. Bail: $412 each.

In other arrests:
— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, 6:18 a.m. in the 1500 block of Hot Springs Road on a misdemeanor warrant destruction of property, issued out of Elko Township Court. Bail: $500.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man, David Edgar King, was arrested Sunday, 10:02 p.m. in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, Carson City sheriff’s deputies were called to the area for a report of a man down on the sidewalk. Arriving officers observed King on the ground. He said he was waiting for a ride home and did not need medical attention.

Deputies did a warrant check. Dispatch advised the man had an outstanding warrant for contempt of court, failure to appear. He was arrested. During an inventory search of the man at the detention facility, star found a clear plastic bag with approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine in the man’s right coin pocket, the report states. Bail: $3,000.

— A 45-year-old Carson City man, Daniel David Allen, was arrested Sunday in the area of Arrowhead and Bowers felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanors: a warrant for contempt of court and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $4,137.

— A 22-year-old Sparks man was booked into jail Sunday on a contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 12, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. bail: $704.

— A 34-year-old Reno man was booked Sunday into Carson City Jail on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Nov. 23, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Sunday, 6:04 p.m on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued April 28, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $10,000.

Go here for other arrests and bookings from weekend. All information for the crime log (unless otherwise noted) comes from the arrest reports supplied by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, and is considered by law to be public information. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The policy of Carson Now is to name anyone who is arrested for a felony offense.
