With at least 50 area employers signed on, a June 14 Carson City job fair may be one of the city's biggest in recent memory.

The fair, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, will feature employers from area casinos, local manufacturers, home health, home improvement outlets, department stores, retail, banking, staffing agencies and restaurants.

"This is an exciting event for Carson City, for job seekers and our local employers. It will be one of the largest job fairs of its kind the city has ever had," said Lynn Ellis, WorkForce Program Case Manager for Carson City Health and Human Services.

A similar job fair in February brought 36 employers and 619 job seekers who landed at least 43 jobs.

Ellis will hold a job seeker classes on Wednesday and again June 12 from 2-4 p.m., in preparation of the June 14 fair. She will provide a "brush up" on job interviewing skills, discuss how to approach employers at the job fair and will look over resumes. The classes are free and will be at Carson City Health and Human Services, 900 East Long Street.

If job seekers plan to attend the job fair, Ellis recommends prospective employees "dress to impress, bring several copies of their resume and treat the fair as a job interview."

To RSVP as an employer contact Ellis, WorkForce Program Case Manager, Carson City Health & Human Services at (775) 283-7579 and email LEllis@carson.org

The Carson City Community Center is located at 851 E. William St. and is easily accessible from Highway 395, Highway 50 and Roop Street. See the flier below.
