More than 200 Bordewich-Bray Elementary School students in Carson City will participate in The First Tee National School Program on Friday during regularly scheduled physical education classes at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center.
The First Tee National School program introduces youth in elementary schools to golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values. More than 4,100 schools nationwide participate in the program. Many of the students who will be participating are from low-income families and have never considered golf an activity available to them. For most students, this will be their first visit to a golf course.
The event takes place Friday, May 24, 9 a.m. to noon at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center, 1251 Country Club Dr. in Carson City.
The First Tee of Northern Nevada is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community youth development organization dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
