A Carson City home was destroyed by fire Sunday, the second such fire in a residential area in just over 24 hours.
Sunday's fire, reported shortly before 6 p.m. was at 1425 Siskiyou Drive at the corner of Shelby. All occupants inside the home escaped and at the time of this report, no was was injured, said Carson City Fire Captain Mike Santos.
The fire emitted heavy smoke in the area and ignited a tree and a chicken coop in an adjacent backyard. Firefighters made their way to the roof to get to it knocking a hole inside to try to vent out the structure and get water through.
Santos, who was off-duty at the time of Sunday's blaze, said he saw the smoke and headed to the fire. When he arrived he asked on-duty firefighters if all occupants had escaped and was told everyone was out.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and a fire investigator was ordered to the scene.
On Saturday, fire erupted at the Parkway Plaza apartment complex off of College Parkway near Carson Street, destroying four units. No one was hurt in the blaze but at least one pet died, fire officials said.
