A 60-second radio spot sung by the Sierra Nevada Children's Choir will be used as part of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad 2013 advertising campaign.
The voices of six children from the Reno-based choral ensemble will be heard in regional radio spots singing a jingle about the popular Old West visitor attraction that runs from Carson City to Virginia City. The six-graders from different Reno elementary schools were Nicole Choma, 12, Hunsberger Elementary; Maddie McElfish, 12, Jesse Hall Elementary; Tyler Rahimzadeh, 11, Our Lady of the Snows; Noah Tibben-Lembke, 11, Roy Gomm Elementary; Georgia McKnight, 11, Coral Academy of Science; and Allegra Bertani-Roach.
"There's no place I'd Rather Be Than Rollin' Along the V&T; This is such a Happy Place; I've got a Smile all over my Face; 'Cause there's no place I'd rather be than Rollin' Along the V&T."
Created by Jim Barr and Smith & Jones Marketing, and recorded by Michael Eardley on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Tanglewood Productions studio in Reno, the radio spot will be accompanied by an online video.
Northern Nevada television personality John Tyson provides a rollicking narrative for the spot, highlighting the V&T's promise of taking riders on a rolling trip back in time to the bygone Bonanza days of the mid-1800s gold and silver Comstock era.
Sierra Nevada Children’s Choir is comprised of 80 singers in three choirs: Con Brio, a choir for first through fourth graders; Dolce, fourth through sixth graders; and Bel Canto, seventh through 12th graders.
Retracing the famous Comstock-era right-of-way, the historic V&T trains travel the silver route paved by miners of that time. Rides feature scenic vistas of the Carson River and majestic Sierra Nevada, with engines passing through two tunnels, abandoned mine shafts, old cemeteries and along countryside where sightings of wild mustangs are routine.
The Carson City passenger station is at Eastgate Siding on Flint Drive off U.S. Highway 50 East, and has a gift shop with various V&T souvenirs to keep the memories rolling. For the latest train updates or to purchase tickets visit www.vtrailway.com or call (877) 724-5007.
