The 21st Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place this year on the Saturday before Mother's Day, May 11th. This is the largest one day food drive in the nation, and since it's start has collected over 1.2 billion pounds of food.
All the food collected goes to local organizations that help feed the hungry in our community. This year Advocates to End Domestic Violence, F.I.S.H., and the Ron Wood Center will be participating.
These organization greatly depend on donations collected to help carry them through the summer months. It is very easy to participate. Your letter carrier will place a sturdy plastic bag in your mail box this week. Simply fill it with non-perishable food items and leave it by your mail box on Saturday.
Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to the participating organizations. If you would like to participate but can't leave your donation by your mailbox, you can leave it at the main post office at 1111 S. Roop Street or at the Ormsby Station post office on HWY 50 East.
