The first Carson City Pop Warner Friday Night Lights Chili Cook Off will be held Aug. 16 at Governors Field from 6 to 9 p.m. We must have at least 6 participants signed up and entry fee paid no later than August 9 for this event to take place. If you think your chili is the best, sign up now.
Entry fee: $20 per entry
Prizes: 1st place $50 and Bragging Rights
2nd place $20
This will be a people’s choice style event, anyone who purchases a Chili Cook-Off Pass, (Chili Cook-Off Pass will be sold for $5 per person at the Snack Bar Window, and allows for 1 vote). Sampling and Judging will take place from 6pm to 7:30pm and the winner will be announced at approximately 8 p.m. during the Friday night lights event.
Participant check-in time is 5:00 to 5:50 p.m. Participants should be setup and ready to hand out samples no later than 6pm. Participants should have enough chili for at least 100 (2oz) samples. Each participant will be assigned a number, table, and voting box. Participants will be given 100 (2oz sample cups).
Everyone who purchases a Chili Cook-Off Pass for $5 will be allowed 1 sample from each participant. Participants will punch each card when the sample has been given out (this is to help regulate the total samples given out) only 1 sample per participant per card.
Then the Chili Cook-Off Pass holders will be allowed to vote for their favorite by placing their punched Chili Cook-Off Pass in the voting box located at the table of their favorite chili. Voting will end promptly at 7:30pm and votes will be counted by two people (at least one board member). Participant with the most number of Chili-cook-off passes in their box wins 1st place, then next highest number of Chili-cook-off passes will win 2nd place.
