A Carson City jail inmate faces a felony charge of possessing a dangerous weapon after authorities on Tuesday found pieces of shaped metal in his jail cell.
The metal objects were made from the top of an Ajax can. One was shaped into a key, presumably to get out of handcuffs, and the other was transformed into a thin piece of metal, shaped into a sharp object, presumably to hurt someone.
Joey Augustin Garcia, 39, faces the felony charge of possessing a dangerous weapon and possessing prohibited items. Garcia denied the metal objects were his but said that a note that he had near the crude metal items was his, the arrest report states. Bail: $20,000.
In other felony-related arrests:
— A Reno man was jailed Monday and faces felony charges of probation violation and possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor domestic battery. Niko Devoi Crosby, 19, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. on Granite Street in Carson City.
Officers responded to the 2100 block of North Carson Street after a call for domestic battery.
The victim told authorities that Crosby pushed her, grabbed her by the neck and punched her in the face. The victim had marks around her neck where she was grabbed and was bleeding from the mouth, the arrest report states.
Carson City patrol officers located Crosby at a Granite Street address. While being searched officers recovered a baggie containing a white rock in which Crosby told officers it was cocaine, the arrest report states. Bail: $5,637.
— A 37-year-old South Lake Tahoe man turned himself into Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on a confirmed felony warrant.
Marson Tone Uhl is being held on $10,000 bail. The warrant was out of Carson City Justice Court, issued March 18, for the alleged crime of possession of stolen property valued between $650 to $3,500.
In misdemeanor-related arrests:
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday and faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. The arrest was made in the 600 block of Bonanza Drive at 1:08 a.m. According to the arrest report, the 23-year-old pushed and punched the boyfriend of the suspect's mother. Bail: $3,137.
A 22-year-year-old Mound House man and 23-year-old Carson City woman were arrested May 30, 1:10 a.m. at the intersection of Fairview and Steamboat drives. Officers responded to the area after a call of a domestic dispute. Witnesses report the man had his arms around the woman's head in a head lock, according to the arrest report. The man was arrested on a charge of domestic battery. He also had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Bail: $6,137.
As officers interviewed the woman and asked if they could search her purse. Inside they discovered two hypodermic needles and a metal spoon with burnt residue, the arrest report states. She was booked on charges of being in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle. Bail; $2,274.
— A-20 year-old Carson City man turned himself into authorities April 30, 12:05 a.m. on a misdemeanor petit larceny warrant.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 600 block of Carrie Drive and faces a charge of failure to pay fines for traffic charges out of Walker River Justice Court. Bail: $1,418.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested and turned over to Carson City Sheriff's Office April 30 on two charges including contempt of court and failure to appear. Bail: $712.
— A 20-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail April 30 on a warrant for being in violation of probation conditions, failure to complete an intensive inpatient counseling program. Bail: $3,000.
— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 500 block of Jeanell on April 29, 6:17 p.m. and faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and gross misdemeanor conspiracy on a battery.
According to the arrest report, a student, age unknown, was attacked by two males, ages also unknown but presumed to be juveniles.
The victim said he was warned at school that he was going to get beat up. As he was walking from school, a car drove up and two males got out of white car and began beating the victim, according to the arrest report. The victim said he saw the female driver, the mother of one of the juveniles, and heard her say: "Beat his ass."
Witnesses said the two juvenile males got back into the white car and left with the woman driving. One witness said the mother said something about how her son was getting revenge on the victim who was bullying in school, the arrest report states.
Officers contacted one of the male suspects in the alleged beating and the mother, in which she was arrested and faces charges. Bail: $1,74.
— A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested April 29, 3:55 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Long Street and faces a gross misdemeanor charge of damaging jail property and misdemeanor warrant. Bail: $8,000.
— A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested April 29, 1:41 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Ormsby. He faces a charge of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the man was fighting with his brother and punched him in the nose causing it to bleed. Bail: $,3,132.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 8:50 a.m. April 29 after being picked up by the Nevada Department of Corrections on confirmed warrants of DUI first offense and careless driving.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested April 30 in the 500 block of North Carson Street for trespassing. The 19-year-old entered the casino and did not have valid identification. He was told to leave. The 19-year-old later returned to the casino and was detained by security. Bail $242.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
