Gaming profits down statewide, Carson City in January

After a fairly prosperous holiday season for Nevada casinos, statewide gaming profits trended down the first month of 2013 compared with January 2012 figures, the state's Gaming Control Board reports.

Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $909,182,243 for the month, a 12.44 decrease from 2012. Carson City area casinos, which includes, Gardnerville, Minden and all other areas of Douglas County except South Shore Lake Tahoe, saw a 5.69 percent decrease in January gaming profits. For the month Carson City casinos saw a win of $7,342,100, compared to January 2012 figures of $7,785,130.

After having the best December in Nevada gaming profits, South Shore Lake Tahoe casinos saw a 2.62 percent decline for the first month of the year. North Lake Tahoe casinos saw a slight gaming increase in revenue of 0.62 percent. Clark County, the Las Vegas Strip and Elko County saw the largest drop in statewide gaming revenue for January.
