Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirms that a body has been found inside an overturned SUV about three miles up Ash Canyon. The incident is believed to be suicide after receiving reports the person had said they were going to end their life, the sheriff added.
Carson City fire and rescue, search and rescue and sheriff's office patrol deputies made their way up Ash Canyon Sunday afternoon after the over-turned SUV-type vehicle was found. The body inside the vehicle was said to require extrication.
Search and Rescue had been combing the area Sunday after a report earlier of a possible suicidal person in an SUV up in the canyon area. The vehicle was spotted shortly before 2 p.m. by search crews.
Search and rescue and fire department personnel on the scene are maneuvering through rough terrain. A Carson City Sheriff's detective has also been called to the scene.
Access to the dirt road was ordered blocked at around 2:15 p.m.
