Seats open on Carson City visitors bureau board; historic resources commission

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau Board and the Historic Resources Commission.

There is an open seat on each board. With the CCCVB, the term will run through July 2015. On the Historic Commission, the term is for four years, expiring July 2017 and is for a person professionally qualified in building construction.

The CCCVB board oversees all tourism matters within Carson City. Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 4 p.m. at the Community Center, Sierra Room. Applicants must be willing to serve approximately six to eight hours a month. The open position is in the Hotel/Motel Industry category. Applicants must be a representative of the Hotel/Motel operators in the City to qualify.

The open seat on the Historic Resources Commission will be chosen by the Carson City Board of Supervisors The open position is for a person professionally qualified in building construction to be filled in accordance with CCMC 18.06.025.

The Historic Resources Commission reviews and makes decisions regarding projects in the Carson City Historic District and/or recommendations to the Planning Commission and/or Board of Supervisors regarding matters relating to Carson City historic resources.

The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint the qualified persons to the CCCVB and the Historic Resources Commission. Applicants must be Carson City registered voters and a professional in the category listed above to qualify. All members will serve without compensation. Volunteer applications may be obtained from and returned to the Carson City Executive Offices. All applications submitted will be considered public information.

Applications will be accepted until May 17, 2013. Interviews for this volunteer position are tentatively planned to be held at the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2013.
