Olympic Day is a worldwide commemoration of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s June 23, 1894, convening of the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the founding of the Modern Olympic Games.
National Olympic Committees throughout the world will also participate in the international celebration, with each Olympic Committee sending Olympic Day greetings to participating nations.
The goal of Olympic Day is to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athleticability. The annual "FREE" Race Day at participating USA BMX tracks kicks off the weekend of June 23rd. BMX — short for Bicycle Motocross — was a brand new event in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Carson City BMX is running their Olympic Day on Sunday, 22 June 2014, at the Carson City Track, Edmonds Sports Complex. Signups 9-10:30 am. Rider needs to wear long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves are recommended and helmet (full face recommended). Bike needs to have chain guard removed, kickstand removed as well as pegs. Anything sticking out. It's Free! But under 18 needs to have parent/guardian accompany. There are some forms to fill out. But it's Free!
Everybody has a friend, classmate, co-worker or cousin who would love to try racing BMX; right?! The OLYMPIC DAY race is designed just for them. There's no better time than this weekend/week, to bring a first-timer out to the Carson City BMX track. It's Free!
