A Red Flag Warning has been issued for western Nevada and the Sierra, including Carson City, Lyon and Douglas counties through at least Thursday due to gusty winds approaching from the Pacific northwest, according to the National Weather Service.
Very dry air will be in place with moderate to poor humidity recoveries and afternoon humidity levels falling into single digits and lower teens. Critical conditions with wind gusts to 35 mph will be confined mainly to the Sierra Front today, Wednesday. Critical conditions will be widespread across the region Thursday with gusts up to 45 mph.
