Irene Davison, a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Forest Service, has been named Carson District Ranger of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
"Davison will be a tremendous addition to the Carson Ranger District,” said Bill Dunkelberger, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Supervisor. “She has an extensive resources management background, and is no stranger to tackling tough resource challenges in both rural and urban recreational areas.”
She began her duties June 2. The 368,3600-acre district straddles western Nevada and Eastern California.
Davidson was the the Naches District Ranger on the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest in Washington. Her former district, which she began work in 2009, is similar to the Carson Ranger district on the Sierra Front because it features wilderness areas, the Pacific Crest Trail, abundant recreation, a ski area, a snow park and motorized and non-motorized trails.
In her new position Davidson will oversee landscape restoration, which she also did in the Naches district. This includes fuels reduction, forest health, and aquatic and wildlife habitat improvement.
“I want to say how excited I am to return to the Carson District,” said Davidson in a news release. “I have taken a bit of a windy path to get back to this beautiful area, but am happy to be back, just the same,” she said.
She left the Lake Tahoe Basin in 2007 and became the Aspen Sopris District Ranger on the White River National Forest in Colorado.
As a botanist for the Forest Service in her early years, plants and flowers remain a big part of her many hobbies and interests. She enjoys gardening and making craft items out of dried and pressed flowers.
She and her husband Bruce, who is also a botanist, enjoy wildflower hikes along with camping and spending time exploring outdoor places.
