The Carson Nugget presented members of the Carson City Area Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America a check for $1,131.80 to show its support for the group and its efforts in supporting fellow war veterans.

The money was collected from a Nugget gaming machine as part of the March 29 Vietnam Veterans Day remembrance that brought more than 200 veterans to Carson City for the ceremony, which was moved to the Carson Nugget from Mills Park because of poor weather conditions. On hand for the check passing was Star Anderson, general manager of the Carson Nugget.

"It's always the Nugget's pleasure to assist vets in any way we can," said Anderson.

Frank Reynolds, president of a the Carson City Area Chapter 388, said the group is thankful for the Nugget's latest contribution.

"For so many years Vietnam veterans have been neglected. Now by the grace of God it is people and businesses like the Nugget who are appreciative of what we did for our country," he said.

Reynolds and members of the Chapter presented Anderson with a plaque thanking the Nugget for its many contributions, including the March gathering at the Nugget.
