The Capital City Circles Initiatives will host "Gem of a Fundraiser" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The Capital City Circles Initiative is a nonprofit community-based program that assists families living in poverty to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency through education, support networking and friendships with members in the community.
The cost is $10 per person and includes Hors d'oeuvres by Thunder Canyon, a no host bar, prizes, a silent and live auction, and musical entertainment by Colin Ross.
Among the auction items are a one-of-a-kind gold pendant and a $50 standing Liberty gold coin, plus an array of collectibles including jewelry, works of art, designer clothing and more. Pay at the door or in advance by calling (775) 883-6506.
Thunder Canyon Country Club is located at 19 Lightning W. Ranch Road in Washoe Valley.
Capital City Circles Initiative is a program based on building self-sufficiency one family at a time. After completing a 20-week "Getting Ahead" workshop families are thereafter referred to as Circle Leaders and are matched with 3-5 Allies to form a Circle.
From that point on each "Circle" meets once or twice a month to build friendships and to work on the Circle Leader’s dreams, plans and goals toward achieving economic self-sufficiency.
Families participating in the program typically take 18 to 24 months to achieve self-sufficiency, at which time they become Allies, and help other families achieve self-sufficiency; completing the circle or reciprocity.
Follow Capital City Circles Initiative on Facebook here and their website here. All proceeds from "Gem of a Fundraiser" will go to Capital City Circles Initiative to support all of its functions.
