It was another Tuesday afternoon showdown on the softball diamond where the Manogue Miners took on the Carson Senators.

Manogue spent no time getting to business with a first at bat double by Tallman, followed immediately by another double by Lawson to score Tallman. With a single by Tavner, and a wild pitch shortly after, Tallman also made her way to the plate. Then, after another wild pitch and series of defensive mishaps, Tallman also made her way to the plate. The bleeding finally stopped there with the top of the first inning over, Manogue 3-0.

The senators managed to muster up a single by Purcell, but couldn’t too much with it and left her stranded and so the score would remain 3-0. With the Miners firmly in control, they went up to bat with the intention of making a statement. And they did just that with a three-run bomb to dead center field by Manogue’s Lawson. The score after the top of two: Manogue 6, Carson 0. With more spot on pitching by Manouge, the Miners had a no runs, no hits, no errors inning in the second to leave the score at 6-0 entering the top of the third.

After the Manogue defensive show case, they stepped up to the plate and did what they do best: hit, hit, and hit. After a single, a sac bunt and a wild pitch, Mangoue found themselves with a runner on third begging to come home. She got her wish after a fielder’s choice after a ground ball to the short stop. Then after a hit parade, they managed to score another two runs to leave the score 9-0 coming into the bottom of the third.

The Senators finally got put onto the scoreboard after a tactical bottom of the third. With a single by TIffer, stolen base, and a single up the Middle by Tuttle. They were left with runners on first and third. After a throw down to second when Tuttle stole, Tiffer cruised on home to score the first run for Carson. After the Senators small spark, Manogue was not risking letting the spark turn into a fire with yet another solo shot by Lawson. Coming into the bottom of four, the score was 10-1, and with more shut down defense by Manogue, it remained that way coming into the top of five.

The Mangoue offense finally took an inning off, getting a double early, but not able to do anything with it so they left one on, with one hit, and no errors. Coming into the bottom of five, Carson didn’t do too much offensively with a hit by Bailey Allen and a couple of ground outs. Manogue followed suit and only came up with a single and a couple good defensive outs.

In the bottom of the sixth Carson went straight to work with a triple down the right field line by Northrup. Then after a ground ball to third by Becka Bruer Northrup scored on a fielder’s choice. After a strike out, a single, and a pop out to third the score would stay at 10-2.

Manouge didn’t put up anything too memorable in the top of the seventh and it seemed like game had all of its runs scored. Not if Carson had anything to say about it though, with some late inning fanatics, they were able to round up another two runs after some good base running and great at-bats. Manogue would prove too much; however, and would prevail with a final score of Manogue 10, Carson 4.
