Carson City will host a presentation on bullying by a Philadelphia-based nonprofit agency that works around the country with educators, parents and law enforcement.
Members of Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc. will discuss what many say is a national crisis affecting communities across the country. The Saturday, May 10 presentation, Bullying: The Silent Threat, will be presented from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street, in Carson City.
The arrangement to bring the group was made after retired Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Michael "Sean" Giurlani decided that an anti bullying program was needed and reached out to Teach Anti Bullying, Inc.
Although there is no funding to bring TAB to Carson City, Dr. Claudio V. Cerullo, founder and executive director of TAB, offered to come to provide a free Give back program to the community, during a critical time.
Speakers will include Dr. Claudio Cerullo, the founder and President of Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc., as well as Ms. Daniela Redpath, the organization’s vice president, who will discuss how bullying affects children with hidden disabilities such as her son David.
Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc. was launched in November 2011 out of Dr. Cerullo’s growing concern for the issue of bullying in America both in the classroom and in the community. Having addressed over 15,000 school students, teachers, and parents nationally, that have been, or are being affected by, bullying, Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc. continues to raise awareness and support, while encouraging the collaboration of all stakeholders — children, educators, parents, community leaders, law enforcement, and local, state and federal legislators — in the pro-active intervention against bullying as well as the prevention of bullying in schools.
Dr. Claudio Cerullo brings more than 22 years of professional experience in education to Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc., active in addressing the great need for anti-bullying awareness, and prevention, nationwide, as a result of parents asking him to help students that are being impacted academically, socially and emotionally by this silent threat.
Internationally recognized as an expert on the subject of Anti-Bullying, Dr. Cerullo has provided many workshops on issues regarding Classroom Management, Student Behavior Modification, Character Education, and School Violence Prevention programs K-12. He is interviewed regularly by media outlets on the subject of Bullying and Anti-Bullying.
Dr. Cerullo has also written numerous articles and books on the subject matter, and four childrens books as well. Teach Anti Bullying, Inc. has lectured at many local, state, and regional education forums and conferences, as well as being invited to the White House on two occasions as expert panelist on the issue of school violence and anti bullying prevention among schools. Dr. Cerullo was asked to deliver the keynote address at the State of Louisiana Governors’ first Anti-Bullying Conference in 2012 and 2013.
Daniela Desiderio Redpath joined Teach Anti-Bullying as the organization’s Vice President in November 2011, after attending a special needs workshop on Bullying and Children with Special Needs, hosted by Dr. Cerullo at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit and brings her considerable marketing, public relations and event management skills to her role. In addition, Daniela brings her experience as a single mother of two children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum and has suffered from bullying in his school. Her extensive experience in event planning, marketing and public relations was gained over two decades in the hotel and food service industries in suburban Philadelphia.
Teach Anti-Bullying Inc.’s services include school assemblies, workshops, conferences and speaking engagements; advocacy; program development and implementation; policy development and implementation; victimization support services; bullying in the workplace programs; online support for children and families; and expert witness for anti-bullying court cases.
