Over two thousand years ago, Roman tax collectors using torture, murder and slavery, humiliated, scourged and crucified a Jewish Rabbi that today is revered by a billion or more followers as teacher, Rabbi, Christ, Messiah, or Son of God. But no matter what we call the mystery of Jesus, each Easter we celebrate the resurrection of faith, hope and love as taught by the greatest Rabbi who ever lived. On Easter we celebrate the triumph of good over evil and of the light over the darkness in our troubled world.
As Jesus celebrated passover, at the last supper, so today do we all celebrate a hope for the end of slavery and murder in the world no matter by what name those ancient evils still exist. Let us remember the strength and faith of our Savior in his last hours before confronting evil using only the weapons of truth, love and wisdom. The wisdom of the Jewish Rabbi, Jesus, has always prevailed against the darkness and ever shall through resurrection.
Have faith, fear not and rejoice on this day for we are the light of the world and it takes only one small candle to defeat the darkness. So long as there is but one small candle of hope in the world, so shall the darkness of evil be defeated by his followers who are the children of God and shall one day be known as the saviors and redeemers of Israel. For we are Israel.
