Carson City area road report for week of April 21-27

Road construction projects around Carson City and Lake Tahoe are underway. Carson City Public Works reports the following projects for the week: There will be lane closures and traffic control on Fairview Drive at the intersection with Carson Street from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, and Tuesday, April 22.

There will be lane closures on northbound Carson Street and eastbound Winnie Lane at the intersection of those two streets Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Frontage Road will continue to be closed from Clear Creek Avenue to Arthur Street and Arthur Street will continue to be closed from Frontage Road to Lynett Road. Detours will be marked and access will be provided to businesses during the closure.

Monk Court will be closed Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, preliminary construction work on road shoulders continues at the State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade through April 30 during the evening only from approximately 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Beginning May 1 through Memorial Day weekend, May 23, Kingsbury Grade will be closed near Daggett Summit as full construction begins. During the nearly month-long period directly prior to Memorial Day, and another month-long period after Labor Day, Kingsbury Grade will be closed to through traffic near the summit, just east of Tramway Drive. During those times, non-residential traffic will detour through U.S. 50 at Tahoe.

Construction will also continue during the summer months between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with Kingsbury Grade open to through traffic, but nighttime construction-related lane closures and delays to be expected. The road will be open with one lane in each direction during daytime hours, weekends and holidays through these summer months.

Here is the Sierra roadwork schedule for the week of April 20-26, 2014:

Long-term projects: Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra: Work is set to begin on the $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance for nine structures in south Placer County. The vertical clearance will be increase on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down to a lower level. Construction is expected to begin in late May.

Short-term projects: State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the Yuba County line to Penn Valley Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to replace pavement markers.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from the Placer County line to Pekolee Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to replace pavement markers.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Clivus Drive to Ladybird Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do grinding and install K-rail.

State Route 49 (Yuba/Sierra County) from Marysville Road to Wild Plum Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to clean ditches.

Interstate 80 (Nevada/Placer County) from Yuba Gap to Donner Lake: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do guardrail repair. Eastbound motorist can expect the Donner Lake Road off-ramp closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Rocklin Road undercrossing: Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on westbound Rocklin Road from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do pavement repair.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from State Route 193 to Gold Run: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Emigrant Gap to Jeo Laing Road: Eastbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do fence work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Brockway Summit to National Avenue: Motorists should expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for crack sealing.
