Recently, I’ve made some sizable changes in my life. Call it “spring cleaning” of the soul, if you will. I’ve changed the way I socialize, who with, and why I do it in the first place.
I have said goodbye to people I thought would be in my life forever, people who made an indelible mark on who I am and people who were simply friends because we co-existed in the same place. Why did I do all this “cleaning?” I did it to make room for something better.
Like spring cleaning a house, spring cleaning your soul is necessary if you are going to clear out the bad “junk” and make room for new people, experiences, mindsets, and attitudes in your life. People, places and things are in your life for a minute, a moment, or a lifetime. Identifying which need clearing is the challenge. Ask yourself: Does this (person/place/thing) feed my soul?
Does this align with my core values, what I really care about in life? Does this make me happy in its current state? If not, am I actually able to change this? Is this within my personal power? Apply this to the people, places, and things in your life and begin a clean sweep of what doesn’t serve you. You will find, once you have tidied up a bit, that you have made room for more of what feeds your soul, aligns with your core values, and makes you happier than ever.
Try this exercise this week? What do you have that is a “keeper?” What do you need to “spring clean” out of your life? The floor is yours, Carson City.
