Carson City sheriff's SET team arrests man on warrant, finds meth in motel room

A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and four misdemeanor charges including two counts violation of a suspended sentence.

Scott Alan Tucker is being held on $10,374 bond. According to the arrest report, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team conducted a warrant service on Tucker at a motel room in the 2700 block of South Carson Street.

Deputies made contact after knocking on the door of the room. Tucker at first told officers that he wasn't Scott Tucker and then later recanted after he was asked for his driver's license, the arrest report states.

He was placed into custody. As the SET officer entered the room he could smell an odor of marijuana. While looking through Tucker's belongings the officer found one bag of around 6 grams of marijuana with 2 grams on the table along with a pipe with marijuana in its bowl, the arrest report states.

The arresting officer then found a Q-tip box on the bed that contained around .1 gram of methamphetamine wrapped in a torn off piece of grocery store plastic bag, the arrest report states.

Tucker was read his Miranda rights, which he waived. He later said the box with the methamphetamine belonged to him and not the female who was also in the room when the officer arrived. Tucker also claimed ownership of the marijuana.

He was arrested at 8:48 p.m. on the following: Felony possession of a controlled substance, meth, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and two counts violation of a suspended sentence issued March 13, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court.

In other arrests:

— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:10 p.m. in the 2100 block of Highway 50 East on a misdemeanor warrant for violation of a suspended sentence. According to the arrest report, the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team conducted a business check at a resort casino. The arresting officer noticed a man playing a game at a machine. When the man saw the officer he immediately got up as if to leave, the arrest report states.

The officer asked the man for his identification as he was actively playing at a gaming machine. The man provided the officer with his identification which revealed an active warrant for his arrest issued Jan 14, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. The warrant was for failure to provide a current listed address and report in for monthly probation meetings. Bail: $3,000.

— A 43-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 8:49 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant.

According to the arrest report, an officer attempted to stop the woman while riding a bicycle and going through a red traffic light at an intersection causing traffic to slow along Carson Street.

The woman would not stop on the bicycle and continued to ride, even as the officer turned on his emergency lights and used the air horn signaling her to stop, the arrest report states.

The officer called for additional units as the woman would not stop. She was followed onto Adams Street and turned again and road across Carson Street, getting off her bike and walking into a local business. The officer followed her into the business and placed her in custody. Dispatch advised the woman has a warrant for her arrest that was issued March 20, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
