Bring in the small dogs. Tie down the lawn furniture and don't stand under any cottonwood trees. The National Weather Service in Reno says it's going to be a windy day in Carson City.
A low pressure system will move through the region and with it will be wind through the Sierra and Western Nevada. The event will be similar to the one that happened March 20 but the gusts shouldn't be as high, according to the weather service. The strongest gusts are expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Winds will be generally breezy, sustained in the 20 to 25 mph range with gusts up to 45 mph from the Sierra and to the east. Winds from Highway 395 to the east will be slightly lower with gusts to 40 mph. Wind prone areas along the Highway 395 corridor of the Sierra front could briefly gust as high as 60 mph.
Loose items should be secured. There's also potential for some blowing dust east of Highway 395 so motorists should proceed with caution.
