While rain and snow showers didn't quite make it to Carson City over the weekend, winter storms did give the Sierra and Lake Tahoe areas a much-needed snowpack boost with more on the way, according to the National Weather Service.

Another late season storm will bring snow to the Sierra on Monday with the heaviest amounts on Monday evening and Monday night. This system is colder then the last storm but doesn't have as much moisture. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of the eastern slope of the Sierra, including the Lake Tahoe Basin through Tuesday morning.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible below 7,000 feet with up to 6-12 inches possible above 7,000 feet. Confidence is high that snow levels will remain lower with this storm and that temperatures will be about 10 degrees below normal on Monday and Tuesday, according to the weather service.

Winter driving conditions should be expected in the Sierra Monday night through Tuesday morning. With snow levels dropping to valley floors there is a chance western Nevada could see some snow with this storm but confidence is low on how much precipitation will be able make it into western Nevada.
