Carson City area road report for week of March 31 through April 4

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of March 31 to April 6, 2014. The Nevada Department of Transportation will be performing road maintenance on Highway 50 between Lompa Lane and Deer Run Road. There will be lane closures between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays, but the road will remain open to traffic in both directions.

There will be utility-related shoulder work at the southeast corner of Colorado Street and Meadowbrook Lane on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Reno Area: There is construction, utility work on SR-667, Kietzke Lane, in Reno now through April 4, Beginning at 6:00 am, traffic lanes reduced to 1 lane each direction from 2nd Street to Kuenzli. Lane closures in effect 24 hours until project is finished. There will be no left turn onto 2nd street from southbound Kietzke lane.

West 2nd street will be closed March 29 through March 31 at 6am. Traffic will be diverted north or south onto Kietzke lane.

Lake Tahoe and Sierra, March 30 to April 5:
LONG-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 89 (Placer County): This is a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in 2016. This project is scheduled to resume May 1.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $44 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements. March 30 – April 5

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Fox Street to Deer Street: Westbound motorists can expect the #1 and # 2 lanes and right shoulder closed from 6 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in South Lake Tahoe: This is a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2014. This project is scheduled to resume May 1.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) in Pollock Pines: Work is set to begin on a $7.67 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curbs, curb ramps and gutters. Completion is expected in November 2014.

March 30 – April 5

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Bullion Bend Road to Sly Park Road: Eastbound motorists should expect the on- and off-ramps at Sly Park Road closed from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, and 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday (off-ramp to open by 5 a.m. Friday). Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from Bullion Bend Road to Sly Park Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A contractor is scheduled to install K-rail.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. March 30 – April 5

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard to the Carson Creek Bridge: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work and utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Chipmunk Street to Fox Street in Kings Beach: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane and right shoulder closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. A utility crew is scheduled to do sewer work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from Deer Street to the junction with State Route 267 in Kings Beach: Westbound motorists can expect the # 2 lane and right shoulder closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A utility crew is scheduled to do sewer work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Cedar Grove to Bullion Bend Road in Pollock Pines: Eastbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do median barrier work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from the Ranger's Station road to Northstar Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A contractor crew is scheduled to do utility work.
