Event Date:
April 5, 2014 (All day)

Attention all feline lovers: the first Comstock Lode of Cats will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6, 2014 at Fuji Park in Carson City.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission fees are $5 for adults, $3 for children and seniors and $10 for the family. The show is hosted by Silver Cats Cat Club of Northern Nevada, a non-profit group aimed to raise awareness for humane treatment of animals. It promotes the importance of spaying and neutering pets and it provides funds for local rescue groups. All proceeds from the admission fee will go to local animal rescue groups.

The cat show will feature bengal cats, maine coons, sphynx and household pets. There will be four judging rings. Purebreds will be judged on classification and cuteness factor. This is the first event Silver Cats Cat Club has done in Carson City. It has held similar shows in Reno.

There will be a raffle as well with plenty of prizes. The idea behind having the show is encourage cat owners to attend, said Michele Lani of the cat club. Money raised from the show will go to animal rescue groups, including the Humane Society.

"The more people who attend and pay admission to the show, the more we can give to our local rescue groups," said Lani.

The show will be held at the Exhibit Hall at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road, which is located west of South Highway 395, and south of the Highway 50 West interchange.

For more information about the show and and the Silver Cats Cat Club of Northern Nevada organization, contact Lani at (775) 240-8828.
