Robert Edwin Deuel, 43, of Dayton, was arrested Friday afternoon in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East for felony extortion and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff deputies were concluding a traffic stop on Arrowhead Drive when a woman approached them with information about vehicle that had recently been stolen from her. She said Deuel had contacted her, and said he would take her to the car if she paid him money.
Deputies listened in as the woman contacted Deuel, and made arrangements to meet him at a casino where he would take to her car in exchange for $200.
When the suspect arrived at the location, deputies questioned Deuel, who said he didn't know where the stolen vehicle was, and that we was only attempting to "screw with her" by telling her he knew where it was. He was also found to be carrying a knife in his pocket, and another knife that was part of his belt buckle.
His bail was set at $27,500.

- Stephanie Baumgardner, of Carson City, was arrested early Saturday morning in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East for felony possession of a stolen vehicle, and gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools. Her bail was set at $27,500.
- Angel Jose Benavidez, 21, was arrested Friday evening at Stewart and Park streets for felony possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine) and a misdemeanor Failure to Appear warrant. His bail was set at $3,000.
- Tyler Adam Borland, 31, of Silver Springs, was arrested Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Drive and Goni Road on a felony theft warrant out of Storey County. According to the arrest report, Borland was driving a black Cadillac Escalade and appeared to be texting while driving, which led to the deputy making the traffic stop, and a computer check returned with the outstanding warrant. His bail was set at $10,000.
- Leticia Shante Chavez, 28, of Carson City, was arrested Sunday evening at Park and Fall streets for felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and two misdemeanor Failure to Appear warrants out of Reno. Her bail was set at $6,089.
