Karen Abowd, Carson City Supervisor, Ward 1, hosts her monthly walkabout Friday, March 14 from noon to 1 p.m. at Mills Park. Everyone is invited to attend the event, which takes place the second Friday of each month.
“This gives the people an opportunity to openly discuss their concerns and ideas about a variety of topics impacting Carson City,” Abowd said. “More importantly, it keeps me in touch with where our constituency is coming down on these issues.”
While there is no set agenda for what will be discussed, presently the Board of Supervisors is still discussing plans for Carson’s corridors, the Big MAC recreation project and animal shelter. Also on the table is how to handle the city’s need for effluent disposal in light of Empire Ranch Golf Course being in bankruptcy.
The walkabouts were part of Abowd’s promise when she first ran for supervisor and has been integral in her leadership and decision making on behalf of the people and the community, she said.
Take a lunch, your ideas, questions and concerns and meet on the steps of Carson City Community Center at Mills Park and become an active participant in local government.
