Representatives from the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board were at the site this morning of an airplane crash discovered Sunday in which one person has died. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said a press conference will be held sometime today and provided a photo of the downed Cessna aircraft.
The body was removed from the aircraft at around 12:30 Monday afternoon.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office was informed by a sheriff's Aero Squadron pilot that during his personal flight time he flew over the crash site of a small aircraft. The location of the site was identified as being several miles east of Carson City in the Pinion Hills.
Carson Sheriff's Search and Rescue crews responded into the area late Sunday afternoon and were guided to the crash site by the reporting aircraft pilot. The deceased pilot has not been identified.
