CARSON CITY — Former Nevada law enforcement official "PK" O'Neill, filed Tuesday at the Secretary of State's office, as a Republican candidate for Assembly District 40. The seat is currently held by former Carson Supervisor and retiring two term Assemblyman Pete Livermore, who is endorsing "PK's" candidacy.
He described O'Neill as "a once in a lifetime candidate." Pete said, "I wholeheartedly endorse him and am giving my total support to "PK" O'Neill on becoming the next representative for Assembly District 40."
"As someone with over 30 years of experience in serving Nevada as a law enforcement official, agency administrator, and criminal investigator I have a long record of public service, which I will draw from in serving the people of Carson City and Washoe Valley," O'Neill said.
"I know the legislative process firsthand, and how important fiscal responsibility is to state government, area businesses, and taxpayers that live in the Capitol District." Excited about the prospects of learning the issues from area voters and residents, "PK" says, "I plan to spend every day walking and meeting voters in AD 40 in order that I get to know them and their issues, before they decide to 'hire' me."
O'Neill was appointed by Governor Kenny Guinn, as Nevada's representative to SEARCH, a national consortium for the sharing of criminal justice information. "PK" has been an active member of the Nevada Sheriff 's and Chief's Association, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, and the Native American Law Enforcement Association.
